Digital Distribution

You’re a game developer. You’ve worked for months, maybe years to develop a game that is top notch and you know everyone will love. Problem is, you don’t have a publisher to push those games out to the public. You’ve tried and tried to get someone to like your game enough to get you some money for all your hard work. They tell you, “Thanks, but no thanks. And please lose my e-mail address. Loser.”

You cry.

A lot.

But, you get back up on your horse and do a little research on Digital Distribution, the new way to publish your games. It’s cheap… it’s easy… and you can get your game out to the world.

And you stop crying.

You instead, rejoice for all things in the world are good and millions are now playing your game.

You are now super cool and everyone wishes they could be you…

All because you decided to use digital distribution to get your game out there.

This is what a lot of people are now turning to when they want to put their game out, but don’t want to have to deal with publishers. Because publishers suck sometimes.

Actually, I’ve already talked about this before, but I found another article on Gamasutra that explains why digital distribution is picking up speed with developers every where. It’s a pretty cool article written by a lawyer who deals with distribution of new games, so it’s nice to see what a person who actually knows what he’s talking about (unlike me) says about the whole subject.

Praise the Gamasutra gods!
