Totally Unreal

Haha, I found this particular piece of game development news pretty darn funny. The US Government is taking the Unreal Tournament Engine and like… totally training US troops with it.

This is what Game Dev says about the whole thing:

The US military is to use a modified version of the Unreal Tournament engine to train its soldiers in how to decipher Iraqi body language.

In Iraqi culture body language is important, with effort needed in gestures to show sincerity, “In western countries, we control our body language more. In Arabic culture, it is important you show how open you are.” said Dr Hannes Vilhjalmsson of the University of Southern California.

Troops will also receive Arabic language training in the programme funded by the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

So, US soldiers, please use some common sense and don’t be flipping off the Iraqi Insurgents, or all the training will be for naught. I hear that pisses some people off. Actually, don’t do that to ANYONE. It’s just rude. We don’t need to have any road rage incidents happenin’ to our boys over seas… at least no more incidents than they’re already getting into.

War… is… hell….

Aren’t I insightful?
